The New Year’s Puzzle

Image
It is New Year’s Eve in Texas and simultaneously New Year on the globe, depending on where you are right now. Either way, I will start by wishing a global Happy New Year to all! But with the New Year here (or just about) comes the New Year’s Puzzle. And to present it and give you my view, I will need to tell you how it all came about with a true story: Nearly a week before Christmas, we were shopping and spotted a beautiful holiday winter scene on the lid of a square tin can: In the foreground, a red vintage truck, decorated with evergreen garlands, wreaths, pinecones, ornaments, berries, bells, and ribbons. On the truck bed, bound by festive red rope, leaned a Christmas tree, sharing the space with four adorable dogs and beautifully wrapped gift boxes amidst hay bales. On the driver’s window, another dog almost jumped out at the bright-white winter wonderland, seemingly sniffing and licking the falling snowflakes that dangled in their descent.   In the background was ...

Our Euphorbia Pulcherrima is Still Alive!

Christmas season + beautiful warm colors = a heart-warming combination! And our heart-warming, vivid-red Euphorbia Pulcherrima, which we have had since last Christmas,   is still alive!  (Yes, the  Euphorbia Pulcherrima is   also known as Poinsettia ¹ !)  Knowing that poinsettias require temperatures above 60  F (15.5  C) to survive (as they are originally from the regions of Mexico and Central America), we have given our poinsettia wheels! Poinsettia-on-wheels! What? On wheels?  — you might ask. Yes! Look at the pictures! And now that our poinsettia is on wheels, we can quickly and effortlessly move it to wherever the sun is shining. As poinsettias, we also need sunlight and warm hearts to survive and thrive. Thus, have a heart-warming, sunshine-filled Christmas! ¹   https://www.britannica.com/plant/poinsettia

Leaves

Leaves...         ...falling...            (Winter calling)           Green... Yellow... Orange... Red... Brown...    Dry on the ground Dead leaves all around Blown with a northerly sound Inundated by reminiscences of yonder  I  contemplate and ponder Visions of death in a scene oh so somber! And I wonder w hat lies ahead for me... When all I see is sorrow Twirling past into tomorrow God only knows why! (Even if I cry) Nature changes for a reason Bringing in a new season Of (hopefully) hope, joy, wisdom If only we would choose to forgive Bury the past and forget Live and let live Love with no regret! Fallen Autumn leaves, Rest in peace Beneath Winter's (dormant) promises!
